Sing a Song of Sixpence

10th Oct 2016

"Sing a Song of Sixpence" has been our nursery rhyme of the week. The children have really enjoyed all activities linked to this rhyme.

The boys and girls have been playing lots of bird themed board games. They are currently learning about the number 2 and the die they were using all had the numbers 1 and 2 on them only. The children understand the need to play fairly and wait their turn.

In the role play corner, the children were taking on the roles of the King, Queen and Maid. They were counting money, hanging out the clothes and making blackbird pie. They also pretended to make pies with lots of other disgusting things in them!

Mrs Morris from Small Talk NI played listening games using feathers. Miss McCoy and Mrs Morris plan together to ensure all learning is connected for the children.

The boys and girls learned lots of new interesting facts about blackbirds in World Around Us! They learned that a female blackbird is actually brown and the male is black! They also learned that the male blackbird's beak is a brighter yellow than the female's.
