Primary 1 Stop and Smell the Roses!πΉ
Primary 1 had a truly sensory experience during this week’s Forest School session, all centred around the beautiful rose! πΏπΈ
We began our session in circle time, where the children learned some fascinating facts: did you know there are over 300 different species of roses? Or that their thorns help protect them from animals? We also discovered how roses are used in perfumes and oils, and even in some foods!
The children worked together in small groups to create their very own rose perfume! Using petals, herbs and water, they practised real-life skills like stirring, cutting, crushing and filtering using a sieve to remove any soil. It was a wonderful mix of creativity, teamwork and science in action!
Back in class, the children even tasted some edible rose petals and used a rose template to explore and show how roses grow from root to bloom. π±πΉ
