Primary 4/5 have kicked off their topic on WATER this term with some science experiments. The children first predicted whether some common items would float or sink then tested the items and recorded the results. Many items were not as predicted! To further their learning their teacher challenged them to find a way to make a paper clip float.. this led to lots of fun and invention from the class (such as making paperclip life jackets 😊)until they eventually discovered when they set their paperclip on absorbent paper in the water, then slowly removed the paper - the clip stayed afloat. The class were enthralled by this simple science and later researched why this occurred. The class are very excited to continue with their water topic and look forward to welcoming a special guest from Northern Ireland water to their class tomorrow. 💦
