P4/5 assembly - We are all special

11th Jun 2018

Today P4/5 did an assembly about how special, important and unique each and everyone of us is and how Jesus loves and cares for us all. The pupils acted different people- a lollipop man, a doctor, a fireman and a farmer and they told us why they are important. Other children acted people from bible stories-Jesus, Zacchaeus, Bartimaeus the blind man, the poor widow and the crowd who followed Jesus. The bible stories showed us how Jesus cared for everyone and loved them all because everyone is important no matter who or what you are. The pupils also showed a PowerPoint of themselves and what they are good at while they sang their hymn Gifts from God. To finish off the assembly  P4/5 sang Sweet Heart of Jesus because June is the month dedicated to the Sacred heart. We were very honoured to have a very special VIP at our assembly this morning - Father Nicky Hennity. Father Nicky is a past pupil of our school. He joined us this morning before he returns to Mombasa in Kenya where he works as a missionary priest. Mrs Donnelly and the head boy and girl presented him with a cheque for €500 for the missions. He spoke to the children about his work in Africa and how he would use this money to enhance the lives of the people he works with.
