Today P4 went to the Silent Valley as part of their World Around Us topic - Water. They had a great day. While they waited for Pat from waterni. to arrive they played in the lovely play park. Then Pat took them into the old school house and talked to the children about the history of Silent Valley and he showed them a very interesting PowerPoint on it. Pat showed how water is cleaned so that it's fit for drinking. Next the children had a picnic and then went to the visitors' centre where they learned lots of interesting facts about water. After this they went orienteering where they found clues on trees and this helped them to fill in their question sheets. The pupils saw the Silent Valley Reservoir and its overflow. Finally the children did a scavenger hunt and each team leader had to show their finds to the whole class and talk about them. To finish off their day Pat gave every child a water bottle and encouraged them to drink plenty of water. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this action packed day and learned a lot.
