Our P2 children had a fantastic time during Forest School this week as they became mini-beast explorers as part of their World Around Us topic, In the Garden. Armed with magnifying glasses and collection pots, the children searched carefully around the school grounds to discover what creatures were hiding beneath logs, leaves and stones.
The children were excited to find worms, woodlice, spiders, beetles and snails. They talked about where minibeasts like to live and why certain places make good habitats. The class showed wonderful teamwork as they worked together to investigate and share their discoveries with one another.
Back in the outdoor classroom, the children discussed the importance of caring for living things and safely returned all of the minibeasts to their natural habitats. They also enjoyed drawing and describing their favourite creatures using lots of interesting vocabulary.
This fun, hands-on learning experience helped develop the children’s observation, communication and investigation skills while encouraging curiosity about the natural world around them.
Well done, P2, for being such caring and enthusiastic young scientists!
