Primary 2 had a fantastic time celebrating Maths Week Ireland with a mix of outdoor spooky learning and magical fun!
The children went on a Spider Number Hunt, searching all around the playground and Forest School area for hidden spiders numbered 1–12. They worked together to order the numbers, find the number before and after, and show their counting skills all the way to twelve!
Then we transformed our outside water area into a Potion Lab! 🧪 The children explored capacity by mixing and measuring ingredients to make their very own magic gruesome potions.
They compared containers to see which were full and empty, and used spoonfuls and cupfuls to measure out their mixtures. The class also talked about which potions had more or less, using brilliant mathematical language throughout.
Everyone had so much fun learning through play, investigation, and imagination — a perfect way to celebrate Maths Week Ireland!
