Melting Moments: P1’s Ice Experiment Adventure!
As part of our winter topic, the Primary 1 class conducted a science experiment to see what makes ice melt the fastest! The children tested five different conditions: ice at room temperature, ice with salt, ice with sugar, ice with hot water and ice with cold water. Before starting, each student made a prediction about which ice would melt quickest, ranking them from 1 to 5.
The class discussed how to conduct a fair experiment, ensuring that the same amount of salt, sugar and water were used for each test. They also carefully added water to a cup of ice to prevent it from affecting the other experiments. The students set a timer for 2 minutes and recorded their results.
As predicted, the ice in the hot water melted the fastest, while the ice in the cold water took the longest to melt. Well done, P1! You all did a fantastic job with your predictions, observations and teamwork!
