Little Robin Red Vest

23rd Jan 2017

Last week the children read a wonderful story called 'Little Robin Red Vest'. In this story, kind-hearted Robin gives his 7 warm vests away to help his animal friends. As Christmas Eve arrives, Robin has no vests left to keep himself warm as he gave away his last one to make his friend feel better. This dreamy winter story gives a wonderful message to children– sharing and giving.

The children absolutely loved this book and it worked extremely well as the number we are learning about for this fortnight is 7!

We did lots of fun activities relating to the robin. We learnt the rhyme 'Little Robin Redbreast', we went on a bird watch and visited our new bird boxes around the school, we painted a robin and we made 7 new cosy vests for Little Robin Red Vest. Check out the beautiful display of work in the primary one art area!

The wonderful message of kindness spread throughout the school, it even spread as far as Mrs Donnelly's office! Mrs Donnelly gave a beautiful assembly on Friday on the theme of the kindness of Little Robin Red Vest. We are so pleased with the work we have done this week!

Well done boys and girls. Keep your eyes peeled for any little robins when you are out and about and give them a wave!
