Primary 1 had a wonderful afternoon listening and responding to the poem ‘Sounds of the Forest’ with musical instruments.
We began by thinking about sounds that we hear in nature (wind, rain, birds, etc.) The children were then introduced to lots of different percussion instruments:
Drums, bells, tambourines, shakers, triangles and wooden blocks.
The children worked as a group to assign various parts of the poem with specific instruments. We recorded our performance on the iPad to share with all of our friends and family! 🎵
Sounds of the Forest
In the forest, winds gently blow,
Birds sing songs, high and low.
Raindrops patter on the leaves,
While the river hums beneath the trees.
Feel the peace, hear the sound,
Nature’s music all around.
