Buddy Chat: Promoting Inclusion Through Communication
Our P6/7 pupils recently took part in Buddy Chat, a forward-thinking programme delivered in partnership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), designed to promote confident, respectful communication. Through this joint project and training with Mrs C. Morris, Speech and Language Therapist, and Mrs L. Colgan, SENCo, pupils learned practical skills to support effective communication with peers, including children with ASD, stammers and other communication differences. Buddy Chat encourages empathy, active listening and understanding, helping pupils become supportive communication buddies within our school community. We are proud to be involved in initiatives like Buddy Chat, which reflect our ongoing commitment to inclusion, respect and the wellbeing of every child in our school community. Through our daily practice, we actively promote a school culture in which differences are understood, valued and celebrated.
