What an exciting afternoon we had in P6! As part of our World Around Us topic of Titanic, Miss McDonald taught us about floating and sinking. Firstly we predicted items that would either float or sink when we put them in a container of water. It was great fun testing them out. Then came the really exciting part...we got to make our own clay boats! We had to think very carefully of the design, as many our our original ideas didn't work. But it was so rewarding when they did!
To finish our day, we have a visit from a very interesting person called Michael McDonald, Miss McDonald's dad! He has worked on the boats for many years, including the fishing boats in Kilkeel harbour and now works as an oil explorationist all over the world! He told us many stories about his time away and the places he has visited. He had been to 69 countries! It was a very enjoyable visit to round off a great afternoon.
