🏰 Primary 1 & 2 Time Travel to Dundrum Castle! 🏰

21st May 2025

Primary 1 & 2 pupils in Mrs Sayers and Miss Murphy’s class had an unforgettable adventure when they visited the historic Dundrum Castle — and it wasn’t just any ordinary school trip! With a sprinkle of imagination, the children travelled back in time to the days of knights, kings, and castle life.

As soon as they arrived, the class stepped into the past. The towering stone walls of the castle were the perfect setting for an epic journey through medieval times. With the help of their teachers, the children imagined the castle bustling with servants, soldiers, and noble lords and ladies.

One of the highlights of the day was the weapons showcase, where the children learned all about swords, shields, and even battering rams. Everyone listened carefully (and a little wide-eyed!) as they discovered how castles were defended long ago.

After a busy morning of exploring, the class enjoyed a picnic lunch in the castle grounds. Sitting on blankets with the sun shining and birds chirping, it was a lovely chance to relax and chat about everything they had seen and learned.

Then came the most exciting part of the day — dress-up time! The children transformed into brave knights, elegant princesses, and even castle guards. With tunics, cloaks, crowns and helmets, there were lots of giggles and smiles as everyone took on their new medieval roles.

The day ended with a march around the castle walls and a final look across the beautiful views of Dundrum Bay. It truly felt like stepping into a storybook.

What a memorable day at Dundrum Castle — one full of learning, imagination, and fun!
