🌼🐝  Buzzing with Excitement on World Bee Day!  🐝🌼

20th May 2025

To celebrate World Bee Day, our class enjoyed a day buzzing with learning, laughter, and creativity – all inspired by our incredible pollinator friends!

We began the day with a fun and energetic bee-themed warm-up. The children transformed into buzzing bees, flapping their arms, searching the playground for colourful “flowers,” and even trying out the famous waggle dance to communicate with their hive. They then carefully “landed” on their chosen flower, just like real bees would.

Back in the classroom, we explored the wonderful world of bees through beautiful storybooks. We learned all about how bees live, work, and help our planet grow. Inspired by what we discovered, the children then became authors and illustrators, working together to create our very own class book all about bees!

The learning didn’t stop there! At playtime, we also designed and made some bees in the art area.  We introduced some early coding skills using Bee-Bots, giving children the chance to guide their bee robots to different flowers on a grid. They worked together to create instructions, solve problems, and think like bees navigating to nectar – a brilliant way to build logical thinking through play.

In the afternoon, we headed to Forest School for a hands-on bee experience. Each child became a busy worker bee, using droppers to collect “nectar” from natural flowers and plants and bringing it back to the ‘hive’.   It was a brilliant way to combine imaginative play with learning about the role bees play in pollination.

The day was a perfect mix of movement, storytelling, creativity and outdoor exploration — and the children left with a deeper appreciation for bees and their importance to our world.

We are so proud of our little eco-heroes and all the buzz they created today!
